Welcome to WRIT 1301!

This blog will be a public space for the writers in our class to share their ideas with the world at large and interact with each other. My reasons for having a blog for this class go along with my hope that we will be able to use this particular space as a place to fulfill our class goals:

• Engage with the whole process of writing: prewriting, drafting, revising, and sharing our ideas with a broad audience
• Practice listening with attention and deference
• Converse intelligently, generously, and with nuance even with those with whom you disagree
• Build skills in various sorts of writing and research which will be required of you in college
• Workshop your own and others' work in process
• Ask deep questions of yourself, others, and the material we will read in this class

So often interactions on the internet can be superficial or ugly; I hope that we can work together to make our writing and our responses generous and welcoming, while also intellectually rigorous.
